Why will my phone data work for the facebook chat app but not chrome?

So the facebook chat will send and receive messages when I'm relying solely on data, but pages in chrome won't load and say there is no connection. Has anyone else experienced this particular issue before? I have a Samsung A5 android phone.

    Strange since you can send messages using Facebook

    Make sure to remove any adblock extension in your chrome browser and allow cookies in the settings.

    The facebook app also works, but my reddit app, chrome app, etc won't connect. I have no adblock extension on my phone and cookies are allowed as well. I tried restarting my phone, and the APN is mobile.bm.
    The only thing I can think of is that my mobile data "Network mode" options are:
    LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) <----- This is the one I'm currently on
    WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
    WCDMA only
    GSM only
    Might that be causing an issue? Thanks for the reply's by the way, much appreciated!
