Do i need a router with this new modem?

With this modem will i also need to connect a router because i keep hearing a lot of issues with the wifi speed of the modem and some customers are using their own router to increase speed?

Fizz provide a modem/router so you don't need a router .
.
However you could use your own router if you choose to ( but you don't need one )

I am using the WIFI supplied with the FIZZ modem. I don't get much interference in my area.

The device provided is a modem/router. You still can use an external router too if you prefer

If you feel like certain room are somewhat lacking in wifi strength perhaps a router or an extender could be used, but the provided modem also plays the role of a router.
