Is it possible to use the wallet (pay as you go) option without a monthly plan?

Is it possible to use the wallet (pay as you go) option without a monthly plan? If so, how can we do it? Because I tried just unchecking everything in the plan management and it is still at 8$/month.

In order to have access to Fizz system you need to pay at least coverage.

 

To use wallet you must pay coverage of your choice ( Launch coverage price : Quebec 8$, Canada 10$ or Canada + US 16$ )

If all you want is a pay as you go phone for very occasional calls or texts, Fizz is probably not the cheapest option. It is impossible to avoid the $8/month service fee. Something like petro canada or 7/11's pay as you go plans might be a better option for you.
