Is my phone supposed to be able to read the SIM's phone number?

When I go to the SIM status section of my phone, it says my phone number is "unknown". Is that also the case for other users?

    I have same problem. It doesn't recognize my Fizz number. My phone can show Rogers, Videotron, and Freedom sim card number just fine. Confirmed it's the phone problem. (using Android 7.1). Data/sms/call all works, so I don't care this minor bug.

    Paramètre À PROPOS DU TÉLÉPHONE devrait indiquer mon numéro de téléphone cellulaire, mais c'est écrit INCONNU. À cause de cela je ne peux recevoir de code de vérification par MON ACCOUNT GOOGLE afin de confirmer mon identité. Avec mon ancien fournisseur de service, VIDÉOTRON mon numéro de téléphone apparaissait dans À PROPOS DU TÉLÉPHONE. Maintenant je suis avec FIZZ et je ne vois plus mon numéro de téléphone dans mes infos. Comment régler ce problème?
