What does "unlimited" mean for Fizz Internet?

The advertisement states: "Truly all-inclusive unlimited plans. Don’t fear hidden fees — the Wi-Fi modem is included, there are no shipping or installation fees3 and you never pay overage charges."

Does Fizz have a definition of what "unlimited" means to them? Is there a "fair use" policy or other limitations to "unlimited"?

Unfortunately, "unlimited" generally does not mean no limits when used for telecom marketing.

Many examples of this global phenomenon:

    https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/28/17507322/best-unlimited-data-plans-verizon-att-tmobile-sprint

    https://www.aseantoday.com/2017/05/unlimited-is-not-unlimited/

Some possibilities for limits to "unlimited" plans:

    • Hidden limits after which there are overage charges. Fizz mentions no overage charges. Good.
    • Throttling after certain amount of usage or during peak hours. Fizz mentions no throttling except for 120Mbps plan. Good.
    • Traffic shaping or prioritization for certain types of traffic. Fizz mentions they don't do this. Good.
    • Other limits in "fair use" policies. I have not found mention of such policies from Fizz.

It may seem like a subtlety, but a lack of evidence for limits is not the same as evidence for no limits. Either it can be defined in explicit policies or it could be at the ISP's discretion.

So far Fizz policies seem good, but I would still prefer to see details in writing defining what they mean by "unlimited".

All my posts to this topic have gotten mod'ed and the last one never appeared (update: it finally appeared after 3 days, and is the post before this one). Take that as you will...

UPDATE: The "best answer" was not selected by me...

UPDATE2: I posted a follow up question with more details from the Service Agreement: https://community.fizz.ca/questions/2220470-unreasonable-disproportionate-use-unlimited-service-mean-fizz-internet

Hmmm, every answer to date seems to tell you the same thing. Unlimited really means unlimited. At this point only way to get a definite answer is to contact Fizz directly via chat and ask them to define unlimited since you aren't accepting any answers from the community since the community can only quote the website/service agreement we received.
