Why is my phone number listed as "Unknown" in the about me section in my phone settings?

Even though I have the Sim card inserted, I can call & text and my account is active my number is listed as Unknown in my settings.

It's the same on my phone, but doesn't seem to affect services at all. Apparently the number on the SIM card isn't always shown on the device, but this doesn't affect anything other than a slight frustration when you've forgotten your phone number.5
