if it would be okay to ask for some data for my son. AXPGH
How much data a boy in secondary school need? I thought his plan was enough, but he already ran out before the billing cycle ends. He does need data sometimes when he’s out with friends — like checking bus routes or meeting up. I’m just not sure what’s a reasonable amount of data for a kid his age each month. Any advice would be appreciated.
And if anyone has extra data to share, that would really help. Thank you!

I have no idea what would be a reasonable amount. I sent a bit of data your way.

Hi,
It really depends on usage, viewing a lot of online videos consumes a lot more than gps or reading the news for example, you can mitigate that by using WiFi instead of mobile data where available.
You can also check usage in your Fizz account, then see current plan pricing, as it constantly changes(https://fizz.ca/en/mobile?ADDONS[0]=18&CVRG=108&DATA=12037&PLAN=3&SMS=223&VOICE=90&WIZARD=mobile) and alter the plan to your needs. Once you change your plan the price will remain what you set it to, until you change it again.
Right now, you can set your plan for to 80GB for $24 in Quebec for example.1 -

Right now, you can set your plan for to 80GB for $24 in Quebec for example. The current price in Quebec for 80GB is actually $35 for Canada-wide coverage or $34 for Quebec only coverage. Even so, this is still a good deal.
Depending on your son's usage of phone calls and text messages, these could be removed from the plan and be pay per use through the Fizz wallet (available in Ontario and Quebec) or through add-ons.

Looks like you're looking at the price for a plan unlimited calls, texts and a voicemail, which weren't discussed.
Here's a screenshot of the price I mentioned.1 -

Sent a gb.
Like someone else said, a reasonable amount depends on the activities, and also how much data you're willing to pay for. Checking bus routes and using chat apps won't take as much data as watching videos. Definitely ask your son for their input on what they want to use the data for and what they can compromise on by waiting for wifi.
When I was on lower data plans, I had my data off and manually switched it on when I needed it. I just used my data for necessities. I also turned off data usage for most/certain apps like YouTube in my iPhone settings, so I couldn't accidentally use my data on YouTube.
Most recently, I had 20 gb a month, and I mainly used it to listen to Spotify for 2 hours a day, plus occasional Google Maps usage, chat apps, checking emails, and even the odd YouTube video. I barely manage to spend all 20 gb in a month and it gets rolled over or I end up giving it all away.
