Does rolled over data go as high as the upgraded total, or stay at the nominal plan total

For example, this month I have a 15GB pan but next month I'm downgrading to 2GB because 15GB is more than I need. My account includes a 500MB upgrade reward perk, so my total monthly will be 2.5GB.

If I have 3GB leftover at the end of the current month, will I see 2.5GB carried over because that is my upgraded monthly amount? Or will it only be 2GB?

I'm asking because I will gift as much data as I can, rather than have it be lost.

    Whatever data you have left from your current cycle will roll over regardless of the changes to your plan

    It was confirmed by customer support, albeit not recently.
    I don't think you're correct in assuming rollover data is limited to the size of your data plan,
    Gifted data, for example, also rolls over until it expires or used.
