If you're on a 4g plan, is it throttled 5g when in a 5g area?

No, it's not. You have no access to the 5G network when you are on an LTE plan.

It will be limited to 4G speed

I am now on a 4G plan. I don’t connect to any 5G network, even when I’m in a 5G area (and used to connect to 5G when I had a 5G plan).

Don't think so, wish they would open 5G up to lower data plans

This is what I wanted to know.

I wish they would open higher data plans to 4g since I'm not in a 5g area.

You'll get the same result by subscribing to a 5G plan with bigger data capacity, since you're in a 4G area, you'll connect to 4G and still enjoy the data. The price difference isn't much and mostly reflects the difference in data.

No, you don't have access to the 5G network.

Oh damn I didn't notice it went the other way too!
