    I live in Montreal and I can get 5G+.
    The 5G+ speed is a joke :D .

    In areas the are only 4G can they just upgrade the equipment to 5G?
    I'm near Peterborough and there is no 5G coverage.

    That's pretty good.
    I assume Montreal would have the best speeds as traffic seems to be routed via Montreal for everyone anyway, so it would be the shortest distance/latency as well as coverage.

    Why does Québec keep getting better pricing for data-only plans? $23 for 35G in Québec, $30 elsewhere for the same service. Not fair.

    None of the other discount brands has that. So, probably only when there is a strategy change in the market.

    curious if we will need new SIM cards.
    edit- nope, customer service said there are no 5g specific SIM. So I assume the red lightning VOLTE sim will work.

    Anyone else notice that the "change my plan" area of their account still doesn't distinguish 4g and 5g?

    That's a surprising answer. On the internet, it says you need a 5G SIM card to use all the 5G features.

    You can still get the plan and disable 5G in your phone settings. The 35gb plan is the same price as it was before the introduction of 5G (in Quebec at least).

    Not true. Vidéotron owns Freedom. So, it is "their" network elsewhere as well. Only exception is Manitoba where they solely relying on partner networks at this time.

    Freedom coverage is not always good.
    It is more likely to be fizz-ext even in Freedom areas.

    And if you actually used that data rate, you would burn through a 100 GB plan in 13 minutes. Which makes this discussion purely academic.

    The rate shouldn't effect your usage amount, but only the speed the content will load. Your download and upload would just be faster.

    I've been happy with the 4g speed.
    Does 5g allow Fizz to oversubscribe more than 4g?
