Gifting data to daughter

Hi all,

I've recently set up my daughter with her own Fizz Plan, as I thought it would be a great way to cheaply give her her own phone plan, while also being able to manage her data usage. I thought I would be able to gift her some of my extra data from my own plan, and see how quickly she uses it (giving her extra data for doing chores, etc).

But it seems I am unable to gift her my data, as a notification says that the recipient must have a data plan already. Does this mean that I need to upgrade my daughter's account to have some level of data per month (1GB or such) in order to be able to gift data to her?

    Hi! You cannot gift regular data to someone on a Fizz plan without data, as they must have a data plan to receive it. See point 5 https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-is-data-gifting-and-how-does-it-work

    Yes, you need to update your daughter's plan to have at least 1GB of data plan. After that you will be able to send her data gifts.

    You do need her to have a plan with, at least, minimal data (1 Gb, for example)

    But my advice : keep an eye out. Sometimes the 1 Gb plan becomes cheaper (you will have to make the switch yourself), or sometimes Fizz decides to offer a plan with more data for the same price! o:)

    Your daughter can use the perks and upgrades.

    Yes, she needs a data plan in order to receive data from other users.
