Is there a way to tell if a phone is VoLTE compatible before buying SIM and starting a plan

Hi I ordered my child a cheap Umidigi G9X and I'm wondering if there's a way to check if it's VoLTE compatible before I buy a SIM card and sign up for a fizz plan? Thanks.

No, not directly. You have a few options though:

    • Buy a phone that is on Fizz' VoLTE compatibility list. That one is obvious  For some phones, it is important to get North American model.
    • If you know anyone that already has a Fizz plan, you can ask them if you may try it out on your phone before getting your own plan.
    • You find someone on this or other tech forums online that has tried it with the particular phone that who have bought.

Please note, that Umidigi G9x is not designed for North American market and is missing LTE bands 13 and 71 for Fizz, as well as 25 when roaming on Fizz EXT. So, you will not get optimal signal coverage and strength with this phone.

This phone is not compatible with Fizz's VoLTE and is not optimal for North America. After the end of 3G, it will no longer work with Fizz.

After the end of 3G, it will no longer work with Fizz.

That is not entirely true. Data will still work. With the coverage limitations as mentioned above for this particular phone. And 3rd party vendors offer phone numbers that only need data to work. And thus also work on phones that are not VoLTE-compatible with Fizz.
