VOLTE problem with Samsung S10 SM-G973F/DS

I noticed that I was no longer able to make or receive calls.
After doing some research, I learned that Fizz is currently migrating to VoLTE, and that 3G service will soon be discontinued. I looked into it further and discovered that my phone is compatible with VoLTE. However, when I tried to activate the feature, the option wasn’t available.
To troubleshoot, I inserted my girlfriend’s Telus SIM card into my phone, and the VoLTE option suddenly appeared. I then reinserted my Fizz SIM card, and everything started working again. The issue is that whenever I restart my phone, the VoLTE option disappears, and I’m unable to make or receive calls. I have to insert the Telus SIM card again to reactivate VoLTE.
I do see the red lightning icon on my Fizz SIM, so I assume it’s functioning properly. What should I do? Do you have any suggestions?

Your phone has VoLTE bit is not compatible with Fizz only the support can give you the right explanation
For example old certificate that fizz dont support, missing codec or other
For example try to use a windows 7 and use the browser installed at that time the majority of https site will not load

I'm pretty sure they could had it on the compatible list. The option is hidden which I don,t understand.

Even when I dial the #8378 I get the confirmation that everything is compatible with VOLTE.

There needs to be a configuration profile to access IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) services for each individual carrier. VoLTE is one of those IMS services. These configuration profiles have to be either be embedded in the phone's firmware image or downloaded over the air (Apple does that). For Android phones and Fizz, these profiles started to appear with select phone vendors, including Samsung, sometime in the year 2020. Your phone is from 2019, and thus unfortunately exactly one generation prior to Fizz IMS profiles being made available in Samsung firmware (the S20s, which are the direct successors to the S10s, do have it). The fact that is works with Telus just means that a Telus IMS configuration profile is available for 2019 Samsung phones, while a Fizz IMS configuration profile is not.

Also, there often are multiple variants of the same phone being sold in different regions of the world. And those IMS profiles for carriers in one region are not always made available for phones intended for a different region. Your phone, SM-G973F/DS, is unfortunately not intended for Canada, which would be SM-G973W.

And then, the presence of an "VoLTE enable" option in the phone's menu does not say anything about whether VoLTE is supported in a particular phone/carrier combination. Carriers can make this option appear or disappear from the menu of a phone, so it depends on your SIM card whether you see it or not. When you don't see it, it may either be in ON, with VoLTE working, or OFF state, you just wouldn't know. The point is, even with the option missing in the menu, VoLTE may work. You may be able to force the VoLTE option to appear on a particular phone/carrier combination (research Shizuku and Pixel IMS), however, enabling this option will still do nothing if your phone doesn't have the configuration profile to register on the carrier's IMS system.

You say that dialling #8378, you get confirmation that you are compatible with VoLTE. This is unexpected.

To check your Android phone's IMS registration status, dial *#*#4636#*#*, select "Phone information" and then tap the three-dot menu to select "IMS service status". If the above number doesn't work on your phone to access "Phone information" menu, there are also apps from the Play Store that allow you to access that menu.

Samsung S10 is not ideally VOLTE compatible. Did you check whether your SIM has the VOLTE symbol?

I read the option to turn it on/off is disabled on some phones because the option is always on.
I use an app Network Cell Info which tells you what network (nw) is used for data and for voice.

Can the Telus profile be saved and reinstalled so OP doesn't need to switch sim cards after every restart?

No, it is not possible to easily save and reinstall the T***** profile on this phone. IMS profiles are tied to the SIM card and firmware, and they are reset at every reboot based on the active network. Without deep system or firmware modifications, this workaround remains out of reach for most users.
