Live in Ottawa, but the number is from MB. What plans are available?

Hi there!
A long time ago moved from MB to ON but decided to keep my MB number (204 area code, Winnipeg).
Currently, there's a difference between price/amount of data available for the two provinces.
I am trying to figure out what plans will apply for me who lives in Ottawa, but uses a Manitoban area code phone number (204), i.e. am I eligible for MB plans or ON plans?
Changing the phone number to 613/343/819 area code is not an option.

Thank you!

    Hi.

You can port your Manitoba number as long as it is still active when you subscribe.

The plans available for you will be based on your address, which must be within the Fizz coverage area (You can verify here if your home address is under the subscription area: https://fizz.ca/en/coverage?region=ON in order to see if you can subscribe without any issues).

In your case the Ontario plans will apply.

There are two FAQs that you can read.
    https://fizz.ca/en/faq/activation-how-do-i-transfer-my-current-phone-number-to-fizz
    https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-having-problems-transferring-my-current-phone-number-to-fizz-why-what-can-i-do

From that, I believe you should be able to transfer your Manitoba number to Fizz as long as it is from a Fizz subscription area and Winnipeg is.
The easiest way is figure things out is just to try. Create a Fizz plan and ask it to import your Winnipeg number. Nothing is going to happen until you confirm the number transfer with your previous carrier. At which point, you can be sure that Fizz is going to accept the number.

There is no 3 month limit. The 3 month limit applies to using your Fizz plan primarily outside of any Fizz subscription area which is not what you are doing. As Ottawa is a Fizz subscription area. So, you don't need to worry about that.

As to what plans you can get, there are service addresses associated with your plan as well as billing addresses associated with your payment methods. According to the payments FAQ, they can be different. So, if you still have a "home" address in Winnipeg (parents' place etc.), you should be able to choose if you want MB or ON plan as long as you use a corresponding service address and you include at least Canada-wide coverage when creating the plan.

You need to look on the Ontario plans. You can use your number about 3 months.

Can you please elaborate on the 3 month limit? I will be in the subscription zone (I live in Ottawa, and with my current carrier my phone oftentimes roams on Videotron/Fizz towers).

Setup a new Ontario plan and then it will ask you whether you want to transfer your number. Click transfer and go through the process.
