Travelling to Italy if i purchase travel add-on for data can i use messenger or whatsapp? Or do i need to purchase add on money to my wallet?

You have to put money in your wallet and then, you may buy add-on data for Italy. No problem to use messenger or whatsapp with wifi (preferred free) or without it (your add-on data $)

You only need a data travel-addon to use WhatsApp and Messenger in Italy. Wallet money is not required unless you also want to send standard text messages, i.e. text messages sent from your phone's built-in messages app (incoming are free).

Sure thing you can use it, but take into account how many data you are going to need and if it's worth it.
