EXT issues

Hey all, having some recent issues and was wondering if anyone experienced this:
Where I am in the Thornhill, ON area, the Fizz signal is very weak (LTE but drops and intermittent). I try manually connecting to EXT (Rogers tower which seems to be the best in the area). I get connected to EXT LTE briefly, then it drops to SOS and sometimes comes back as EDGE/E/2G only. This was working before, so I'm not sure why its giving me issues now.
I opened a ticket with support already, but I am wondering if anybody has had a similar issue. I have a Canada-wide plan and stuff and definitely have not exceeded the EXT threshold.

Have you tried connecting other EXT network rather than rogers. Did you face the same problem?
Every day in my cellar parking Fizz catches EXT from rogers , but I didn’t face any problems. I connect to gps, sometimes attend calls, browse social media all works good.

Hi, some phones receive a bit less well than others.

What is the model of your phone?

It is possible that Fizz is starting to block access to the EXT networks in areas where they have coverage of their own. I think this has to be expected to get implemented at some point. After all, Freedom has been doing this for years. The GTA would certainly be a prime candidate to roll that out in.
I noticed a few days ago, that my live audio streaming suddenly stopped (and so did all data in fact) as I was driving back into the GTA from the Lake Erie area with my phone manually set to Rogers. A behaviour, I am all to familiar with from my old Freedom days.
I can't of course be sure of course, at the moment in my area, I can access the Rogers LTE network just fine. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw this kind of behaviour more frequently going forward.

Even the fact that the GSM signal is still available makes sense. As this is the only option older Europe/Asia phones that neither support VoLTE nor North America-specific frequency bands can fall back on to make or receive calls.

iPhone 13. This was working previously so it would not be a signal issue. My friend is on Rogers and has nearly full bars

Other EXT networks work fine but where I am, they're just as poor as Fizz's own signal so it makes no difference. The rogers signal is the best one here - my friend has rogers on his phone and he has 3/4 bars while I have one with dropping calls and data.

Looks like Rogers has an outage today, maybe once they fix it , your problem would be solved.

I was also having issues with dropped calls, so I changed my cellular settings to 3G EXT which brought back 4 bars and I can once again have a phonecall conversation without any problem. However, now I have people calling me and I don't hear the ringing and might get their voicemail much later! What's going on with Fizz? This could be a safety issue if an emergency call is not received!
