It’s been warming up these past few days where I am and I’m resisting the urge to turn on the A/C. What are your best tips to beat the summer heat? Any low-energy hacks?

I currently carry with me a large, handheld foldable fan and I sometimes use an umbrella when I walk so I’m always shaded. I’ve been watching videos about paint that reflects the sun’s heat and wish I could prop some painted panels up outside my room.

Keep your blinds or curtains closed during the day to let in less light/heat from the sun.

Yes, it helps a lot to keep the blinds and curtains closed.

For instant relief, stick your feet in a bucket of cold water while you work :D it's surprisingly effective and gives your coworkers something new to talk about.

I plan on doing that, but I also have some houseplants in my room that need to be relocated first.

I will also mention sitting in the basement. My dog sleeps down there when it's too hot in the house.

Oh, and having a little humidifier spraying cool mist can be pretty cooling. I had one on in the winter that made me a bit too cold when I had it on for too long, but I haven't pulled it out yet for the summer.

I recently came across this podcast clip about this wrestling match taking place in Saudi Arabia. The referee was talking about how hot it was during the day there and that the stores open at night. I found that super interesting but now I'm wondering if that messes with sleeping at all.
