DDNS issue

I'm trying to configure DDNS on the Fizz router. I tried dynudns, duckdns.org, and another free ddns service on top of the list. It always gives me [ERROR] Failed connect to DDNS server, please wait a moment and try again. I've setup DDNS on many routers and never had this issue. Is this some kind of bug with Fizz router?

    Hi @dimar

I use my personal router with Fizz, but ensure all required fields are accurately completed. Check this https://forum.fizz.ca/en/discussion/2642064/ddns-is-working

Probably you should contact the support

edit: I read a different post from the forum, it seems that it is a problem with the Fizz's modem

Thank for replies. I understand that personal router would be a decent solution, but Fizz router already offers a decent list of DDNS providers, more than most other routers. I just wish the feature would function. I requested tech support to escalate this to the engineering team, and I also asked for HTTP based custom DDNS feature.

You're not alone—many users have reported issues setting up DDNS on Fizz (Hitron CODA or Sercomm) routers. The "[ERROR] Failed connect to DDNS server" issue is commonly related to how the router firmware handles DDNS updates, and some firmwares simply don't support third-party services well (or at all). That said, here's how you can try using No-IP with your Fizz router, along with some workarounds in case the native router DDNS setup doesn't work.

    Create a Free No-IP Account
    Go to https://www.no-ip.com
Click Sign Up and create an account.
    Confirm your email address.

    Configure
Log in to your No-IP dashboard.
Go to Dynamic DNS > Add a Hostname.
Choose a hostname (e.g., myfizzhome.ddns.net) and leave the IP as-is (it will auto-detect your IP).
    Click Create Hostname.

    Workaround
Instead of relying on the router, run a DDNS updater on a local device, like a PC, Raspberry Pi, or NAS.

Using No-IP's Dynamic Update Client (DUC) on Windows/Mac/Linux:
    Download from https://www.noip.com/download
    Install the DUC software.
Log in with your No-IP credentials.
Select the hostname you want to update.
Keep the client running in the background (set it to auto-start).

This approach bypasses the router completely and updates your IP directly from your device to No-IP.
