So if you have no data plan you can't be gifted, but if you buy data can you be gifted?
I just want to have enough data on my phones to do Google Maps So wondering what the best Way to do that for me

Hi @Nateuhl,
Buying an Add-on or applying a perk or an upgrade allow you to add extra data to your plan, but that won’t give you the ability to gift or receive data. To gift or receive data, your plan must include data from the get-go.

buying addon won't let you get gifted data. you have to have a data plan even if the plan only has data.
