Extremely low signal in particular area of town
Hi all. My very first question (so go easy on me ๐). Bought a Fizz line for my daughter, we are in the first month of it. I got it because it is a Canada/US plan and our family travels frequently to the US -- and the price was awesome.
The problem is, as 'luck' would have it, at her school (south end of Windsor) there seems to be a very low signal zone. Her phone goes into "Fizz_EXT" and even with that, it barely reaches one line if at all. Unable to send messages, make a call, etc., in that area. Though it works great everywhere else.
The thing is, though, we tried other network at the same location, and same thing. I'm starting to think, since it goes into "Fizz_EXT", that the "partner network" it connects to at that location happens to be other networks available.
Anyway, what is your best suggestion for dealing with this? Has anyone else encountered such as an issue? I don't necessarily want to give up on Fizz, because it's such a great deal.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @mitch_can
You can always try to select manually the FIzz ext when the phone is in that location, this will be good as temporary workaround.
However, when Fizz is outside the coverage it will select one of the partner network, you should see if there are some app which are able to select the network operator automatically for you when you are in certain zone. In the phone you don't have any.
You can always contact the support,
, and click on the green bubble on the bottom right of the page in order to chat with them to find the right solution for you.0

if you have an iphone, you can manually select which fizz ext you want to connect to. unfortunately for android you can only select fizz ext and it'll auto connect. Also do you have an older phone? it could be the phone's antenna is weaker which makes it more difficult to connect to the network.

Good morning @mitch_can
Here is a link to a cell tower map. I am not familiar with the Windsor area, but it would seem that perhaps Telus does indeed have the most towers in that particular area. My experience in Canada is that Fizz is a partner with Rogers, not Telus.
Given that you experienced the same problem with that particular phone on the Telus network, I agree with @wenhan that the problem may be resolved by using a different phone. If you have a phone/SIM card combination that works well in that area, take the sim from the phone that works well, put it into your daughterโs phone and see what the results are. If the results are poor, you could conclude that the problem is the phone.
Cheers,
Brad

You can check if your phone can connect to all the Fizz frequencies on the official website:

You can try to connect manualy to an other Fizz EXT. Be aware that 50% of your data must be use on fizz network unless you are in an extended subscription zone.

Thanks everyone for your replies. We will certainly try the ideas.
I do wish that Fizz would label the EXT networks with their actual names โฆ but I get it โฆ competition and all.0 -
Thanks so much. This is highly helpful. I now know which one to switch to for sure.

You are most welcome @mitch_can
Would you please let us know how you make out?
And thank you @wenhan - I didnโt know that Fizz used all three big telcos nor did I know there was an order
Cheers,
Brad
