On fizz website I can see options for top up of data like 20$ for 2gb. Is there a way to top up data through fizz texts? Like a number or any offline way to activate data top ups?

This weekend I had an issue where I was in a cabin with no WiFi, only my phone had internet and then I ran out of data. I couldn't access my fizz account online to top up and add or activate some unlimited data passes I had.

The only solution was to go into town to get WiFi to get to my online account for top up or hotspot off a friend in the area to get to my online account. Surely there must be another way?

that's so silly there really should be another way, usually you need it on the fly and don't always have access to the internet to top up

if your phone had internet you could have used it to top up or ask people to send you data

Personally, I have never heard of a telco that permits account changes via text. To accomplish that, they would have to have a person monitoring the texts and then call you to verify your identity.

The simpler way would be to have a phone number to speak to someone who could verify your identity, not sure if other telcos do that or not.

People are expensive. Having customers do most tasks rather than provide phone support 24/7 for instant assistance, keeps the costs down.

What would help is an account setting that can be set to notify the account holder when a threshold of data is left. That way the account holder gets notified when they are running low, before they run out.
