I am in central London, well within normal coverage area. Yet my device says it is roaming. Still works but confused.

    Hi @RoadWarrior

This is normal don't worry, when you are using a tower for a different provider your phone will recognize as roaming (Fizz Ext) and you need to have the roaming active. Fizz is a prepaid service and you will not charged for this. If you are outside your coverage area, the phone will not work, and you need to buy an addons. Suppose that you have a quebec plan, but your are in Ontario you will need to get an addon or put money in your wallet.

If you have a Canada coverage it will work without any problem, but it will indicate that you are using Fizz Ext and you are roaming (without any fee)

What network does your phone say it's connected to?

Make sure that in your mobile network preferences it is set to 4G LTE and not 5G.

Your tablet may not be 4G LTE capable. Maybe you are on 3G.

    Thanks for the update.

I do not and have never turned on roaming on my device, but apparently it does on its own?
So the map is not quite truthful, rather hopeful.

It shows fizz, so it should not be roaming... and network set to auto. Maybe why my data counter also does not function with this network. It is lazy at times, with slow refresh... but I run a cheap tablet, it may be part of the issue.
    Thank you for your answers.

My tablet is 5g capable, and it seems to work, so minus a few bugs I'm ok with it.
