Coverage for calls & texts + data speed?

I'm considering switching from other provider to Fizz... but before I do, I have a few questions.

1) If I sign up for a Fizz mobile plan that is limited to "Alberta" coverage, does that mean I can only make/receive calls to/from Alberta-based phone numbers... or can I make/receive calls to/from any Canadian number as long I'm physically in Alberta?

2) Does text messaging work the same way? Is it dependent on the coverage I select (Alberta or Canada or Canada + USA)? Is international messaging available/included?

3) Does Fizz throttle their 4G/LTE data speed? If so... what is the mbps limit? If not... what is the theoretical/expected speed, in Edmonton, Alberta?

    Hi @Wilhelm_Fink

    1. Means that you can only make calls in Alberta, receive calls from everywhere if you are in Alberta
    2. The incoming are free from everywhere (for example in Europe), the outgoing if you have SMS included in your plan, you can send everywhere if you are in Alberta (with the Alberta coverage)
    3. No fizz doesn't throttle the 4G, if you go over, you can ask data from other members, buy an addons, or wait the next billing cycle

Remember to use a referral code at the activation of the first plan in the account, in this way you will receive 25$ credit at your second payment. You can pick mine, it is on my name after code, or pick one from here

    To clarify...

    1) If I select "Alberta" coverage, if/when I'm physically in Alberta, I can't call Ontario... but I can receive a call from Ontario. Is this correct?

    2) If I pay for Text Messages and select "Alberta" coverage, if/when I'm physically in Alberta, I can send and receive text messages from "everywhere" in the world. Is this correct?

    3) What is the theoretical speed (mbps) of Fizz Mobile's 4G/LTE data service?

Thanks for this. I was actually considering getting Ontario only, thinking that I can call all canadian numbers as long as I am within Ontario.

But another question, does that mean I can't call US numbers with the Canada plan? I'm thinking no. 😆

You can only if you buy an Addon to call the US

Or you can pick Canada/USA plan, which will give you the possibility to use the phone in Canada and USA and call both countries included in the unlimited calls option

    I see thanks for that.
