How much data would I use per month?

I'm retired and only go to the city once a week. I don't stream any movies but when in the city, I do tend to surf various websites. Can anyone tell me roughly how many GB's of data I would use per month?

    Hello @quaildog

I suggest to you to begin with the 4 gb data mobile plan. You have actually a very good price for this plan.

Yeah, like swatt said, take the 4GB plan and if you see that you are running out, just make another post requesting some data and other users will gift some to you.

    4gb would be good

Like other said, 4Gb plan might be a good option. With perks and rollover, it might be enough for your usage. Like @elena code xzi4t said, it is quite difficult to evaluate depending on type of website visited and duration.

    Less than 1Go?

    Only data bonus for me...

Thanks for the replies. The 20GB offer is only a few $ more than 4 GB service. I may try the 20GB service while it is in beta test and see how much I use, using it on a daily basis at home and in the city.

I should have mentioned that when I look at my wi-fi monthly usage, it looks like its' around 7-8 GB.

    Hi @quaildog

I think Something between a plan of 4-6gb will be good for your usage.

It's 136-204mb per day. It's okay for web browsing if you don't watch videos. :)

    Have a nice day :)

It really depends by what do you do while using it those 4 days a month... As other already suggested, I would start with 4 gb and then increase/decrease from the following month

20GB is a lot more than you'd ever use in your situation. You can track the data used per month in the setting of your cellphone. I'd say even 2GB should be enough, but with 4GB you should be able to browse as much as you want and not worry about the data running out.

Thanks to all for the replies. I transferred my number yesterday to Fizz Mobile with 20GB of data. As I've said before, since the price was only a few $ more, I wanted to see how much I actually will use without worrying. At the end of the 6-month beta test, I will likely reduce to what I really use. Now that I have data, I will very likely use it more than the 4 days per month I originally thought. I was amazed at how fast the transfer of my number and the initiation of the service actually took - about 20-25 minutes. I live southeast of Ottawa and have the same signal strength as I had with the previous provider. And now, no need to search for wifi wherever I go. Yea Fizz!

I believe that for peace of mind, you made the right move.

    Welcome to Fizz!

    Great choice quaildog. Welcome !

also agree with 4GB probably already being much more than what you need
  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

Since data can roll over the next month, you end up needing way less than you expect... I'm easily going on with only 1 GB a month right now and most of the time I have about 3 available

Finally, how many gb of data did you take?

I bet you will have enough with 1 GB.

  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

I believe 4 GB is usually more than enough for most users, however since the price difference wasn't an issue for you, you did right going for 20. Remember you can still gift some if you have too many so you can earn points more quickly and help out other users in need

Thought I would provide an update so far. Everyone suggesting that I wouldn't need more than about 4-6 GB per month seem to be right. After 15 days this month, I have used 1 GB of data, although I plan to use more in the future, now that I can stream videos and TV programs. Thanks again to everyone who provided comments and recommendations. So far, I'm really enjoying Fizz.

I've noticed a recent post that another provider is now offering a $29/50GB plan (for 24 months) in an attempt to win customers back. Now that they have competition, they decide to wake up!

Site faviconKoodo offers former customers a $29/50GB plan in an attempt to win them back

Thank you @quaildog for your feedback. You are one of the rare members who came back after seeking support. It is greatly appreciated. Enjoy your Fizz plan and spread the word. Remember to give your referral code in order to receive $25 when someone uses it.

    Hi @quaildog

Take the 1GB data plan. You're going to have enough! My wife is like you and 1GB is enough for her! If that's not enough, I promise to give you 1GB if you miss them. It will give you time to adjust your plan to a higher level!

Is this where I post my referral code?

  • Supreme Geek 5/583🔥 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭

No, this is the place to do so:

    https://forum.fizz.ca/en/discussion/2198337/this-is-the-place-for-your-referral-codes-here-and-only-here#latest

There’s also a thread on the French side of the forum. You can post your referral code 2 times each day on both threads.

  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

    I quite agree on this!

I have a 4GB plan right now and I just started gifting some data because I don't use all of them. At least 2GB are rolling over

  • Supreme Geek 5/5 Posts: 2,466 ✭✭

You could start with a large plan (20gb or so) and use it for s full month. Then make some adjustment if you meed more or less data. You can change your plan every month.

  • Supreme Geek 5/5150🔥 Posts: 9,242 ✭✭

Data is valid for 3 months (1 month active period and 2 months rollover). So if you are not using much data, you can take 20Gb and deactivate data for the next 2 months. After that you can add data again for the 4th month and deactivate it for 5th and 6th months. The only risk is that the price can be changed when you want to add data back.

  • Big Geek 4/5 Posts: 351 ✭✭

I think you can be good with 20gb.

  • Big Geek 4/5141🔥 Posts: 1,172 ✭✭

Good suggestion, it is a bit complicated though 😅

  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

I would just stick to have less data and let them roll-over

  • Apprentice 1/51🔥 Posts: 47 ✭✭

    New follow-up - after 3 weeks, I have used 2.24 GB

  • Supreme Geek 5/5 Posts: 2,466 ✭✭

It seems like 6gb plan would be perfect. And if ou ever go out of data, the fizz community will give you data to help you out 👍

  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

Out of 20 right? I think the 4 GB plan could work for you, since even if you are a bit short the first month, whatever is left will rollover so on the following months you should be fine

4GB is more that enough for you. If you have problems in one month you can always ask a friend help.
  • Supreme Geek 5/5141🔥 Posts: 7,375 ✭✭

    I definitely agree

  • Big Geek 4/5141🔥 Posts: 1,172 ✭✭

I'm using about the same data as you, but I have a 4gb plan
