I have a Nokia G400 5G that I bought last summer while i was in the US.

Would this phone work with the Fizz network?

    Hi

the phone is not certified for the VoLTE with Fizz, however, check here https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices

An LTE compatible phone configured with LTE network preferences must support:

    • The HSPA 850 MHz frequency for calls.
    • The dual frequency 1700/2100 MHz (also called AWS or band IV) for mobile data.

A phone that only allows 3G configuration or HSPA network preference must support:

    • The dual frequency 1700/2100 MHz (also called AWS)

if your phone support this, what means?

that for sometime can be used in Canada but in couple of months or years, when the 3G will be d in Canada too, you can end up with some problem.

in the USA will not work with then Sim fizz

If you go there, you can know if your phone works with Fizz

I dont understand, know what Volte is

The Nokia phone is a phone I bought new, Surely all new phones come with the latest technologies.

What about my current phone an old Pixel 2XL. does that have Volte?

I have a fizz SIM card in it and it works just fine.

    Hi @Tiffna4u

Here you can find all the information about the VoLTE and Fizz https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-volte-important

    However, to make it short

    • The VoLTE is VoIP over LTE and is using 4G/LTE technologies
    • Yes probably your phone has the VoLTE (i didn't check) however, Fizz send the configuration only to the phone that they tested on the link you will find the list
    • the USA dropped the 3G network therefore, you need to have at least a 4G phone with VoLTE in order to be able to use there (for voice and text), but if the provider doesn't certify the phone this will not receive the configuration you will not able to use for voice and text over there.
    • Rumours suggest that Canada will phase out its 3G network around 2025

    Then

your phone, at this point in time, will not work in the USA (for voice and SMS) with the Fizz's SIM, and some day (if not certified by Fizz) will not work in Canada using the Fizz's SIM

Jess and Elena already gave you all the info you need to understand how VOLTE works... Unfortunately some newish phones haven't been certified by Fizz so they don't completely work in US as well as they will not work in Canada in a few years (around 2025 afaik)
