What is band steering and why is the default "disabled"?

I have a small house and am having trouble getting a decent wifi signal in some areas. Would it be better to enable the band steering? Should I connect a router/wifi extender?

  Hi @Noriec

  Sometime is better to have one SSID (one name) for both frequency, some other time, sometime, older devices they prefer one for each frequency.

  The Fizz's modem is know to have a mediocre range. I prefer to use my own router

  If you use the band steering do not forget to give a different password for each band.
