Moving to Kingston for a year: what are my options?

I'll be moving to Kingston for a year for grad school, which will mean I'll be outside of the subscription zone for a year. Does that mean I have to cancel my account with Fizz? Do I have any other options?

    Hi,

unfortunately not since as you mentioned the subscription area to be a Fizz subscriber is the province of Quebec, that also includes the Ottawa region.

    Hi @NerdFanClub

I read some user that used the phone for more than 3 months in USA, Fizz asked her to buy some addon in order to continue to use the phone.

    But from the FAQ

We reserve the right to interrupt or block access to our network of partner providers Fizz EXT if you use your mobile service primarily on their networks for 3 consecutive payment cycles.

Moreover, you should consider that for you is not a really good option to keep a Quebec phone number in Ontario, the people that are calling you they need to pay a "long" distance call.

However, if you want to keep the number, you should consider lowering the plan, unsubscribe, and subscribe back with 60 days and cycle with it.

Unless you transferred it to another mobile provider, you can reuse your Fizz phone number up to 60 days after unsubscribing, whether to reactivate your plan or to use it for another plan in your account.

However, if you have bonuses, you are supposed to lose them.

    Hi Vijay,

only Fizz’s support team could answer this, if you want to contact the service directly to inquire about that question, you can do it by opening the following link: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/status-services and simply scroll down until you see the green bubble, than click on it to start your chat session with the customer service.

If the chat bubble still does not appear at the bottom of the page, on the right, after a few seconds, the number of pending sessions is higher than the service’s processing capacity. At that time, you can leave a message on the other proposed communication channels:

-By private message on Facebook/Messenger: https://facebook.com/fizzca.

-By private message on Twitter : https://mobile.twitter.com/fizz_ca

    -Whatsapp : (438) 393-5814

Hello @NerdFanClub, to be a Fizz customer, your account must have an address within its subscription area, QC and part of Ottawa. Bell, Rogers, Telus and all their discount names and Freedom Mobile, etc. offer nation-wide service. You can keep the same number, just tell your new provider you want to port your existing number. Check out Freedom Mobile, they are the least expensive for pre and post-paid but can be a compromise if you will travel/live outside urban areas. PC Mobile is very competitive as well and is on the Bell network so great coverage.
