Mobile plans - updated rates as of January 15 2021
Hello!
Since there have been changes, here are the updated list of prices by component of mobile plans.
Please note: Existing customers are not affected until you change your plan!
This post is based on Cédric's publication on the French forum: https://communaute.fizz.ca/questions/2577048-forfaits-mobiles-tarifs-composante-jour
It can be practical to know how much each component of the package costs, without having to play in the packages page which only gives the overall price according to the options chosen.
Note, only the “Cellular data” component has been modified.
- QC coverage $10 (Canada coverage add $2, US coverage add $10)
- Unlimited calling: $ 7
- Unlimited texts: $ 3
- Voicemail: $ 2
.
Rates for cellular data (You must add coverage and options)
1 GB: $ 5 -> $ 6
2 GB: $ 8 -> $ 11
3 GB: $ 11 -> no longer offered
4 GB: $ 15 -> $ 16
5 GB: $ 16 -> no longer offered
6 GB: $ 21 -> no change
8 GB: $ 24 -> no change
10 GB: $ 31 - > no change
12 GB: $ 36 -> no change
14 GB: $ 44 -> no longer offered
16 GB: $ 50 -> no longer offered
18 GB: $ 56 -> no longer offered
20 GB : $ 62 -> no change
(Rates as of January 15, 2021 - if there are any mistakes, feel free to provide an update in the answers!)
Notes:
1- To have an active plan, the minimum is $ 10 (Quebec coverage). You can put money in your wallet and pay as you go for texts and calls with money from the wallet. (See attached image for rates.)
2- Calls and texts are also available as an "add-on" instead of the "unlimited" option (see attached image for rates). An add-on is active from the moment of its purchase until the end of the next cycle. So if the add-on is made on day 1 of a cycle, it has the potential of 60-61 days of validity. (For someone who makes less than 60 minutes of calls per two months, that means $3 for calls rather than $14.)
3- Coverage area indicates where you can use your cell phone and which area codes you can call (without requiring an international/long distance calling add-on).
4- International/long distance calling add-on rates are not included here and depend on which country you are calling. When you sign-up for your plan, there is an option to pay $5 monthly to receive a fixed number of minutes of International calling to a country of your choice.

Thanks for the info. That’s what I was mentioning this morning.
I do wish they would directly inform us, even if our personal plan doesn’t change.
Fizz prides itself with flexibility. I am usually changing my mobile plan (not an old one) monthly, depending on how much rollover data I have and (in the past) when I travelled to the US. I can’t do this anymore. 3 GB was usually my go to data allotment.
But for me it’s simple - as long as they are cheaper than the other companies (a gap that is closing - especially with the new internet rates which are not that competitive) I stick with them. Once they start to cost the same, I always have the option to switch.
Especially during Black Friday you could get plans with other companies which compared to the same plans at fizz were the same price...15 -
Hi,
Thank you for update.
Personally I am really sad to see the US coverage price going up... I know its not too much but Fizz right now has the best offer on the market and they don t promote it at all !14 -

Fizz price is no longer competitive, fortunately I (and many of us here) have grandfathered trial plans.4

I switched to Fizz a few weeks before the price increase so I won't be affected but this does sting a bit. I would have preferred if they emailed customers to notify them as well for a heads up to people who don't browse the forums very often like me.5
