I lived in Montreal in 2019 and had a Fizz mobile account there. The Fizz mobile number I received was my WhatsApp number. I have since returned to my country of origin and have deactivated my Fizz account and have returned to using my original mobile number for WhatsApp. However, a friend of mine sent me a message on WhatsApp saying that they had received a message from me on Whatsapp with my Montreal mobile number. However, I hadn't sent her the message. It appears that someone is using my old, deactivated Montreal Fizz number as well as using my name with it. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

After 60 days the numbers can be given to a new users, probably you did not disassociated this number from your whatsapp account and the person was able to recover your contacts from whatsapp5

Have you followed these steps when changing number? https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/27585377/
If not that is probably why this is happening... As Mike said numbers not used anymore are eventually given back.4 -
Mike is right4
