Do I have to be a Fizz mobile customer to gift mobile data perks?
I have an active Fizz Internet plan.

Unfortunately you do need a mobile plan to give away some mobile perks.16
-
Yes you do. You can’t give away mobile perks if you don’t have a mobile plan15
-
That's a bit awkward though, since it is there when you subscribe for either service.17
-
No you need a mobile plan does not need to have a data plan to use or gift your perks12
-
Wait. You want to gift from a home internet plan to a mobile plan? Is that right?12
-
Yes, I want to gift the mobile data perk that I cannot use, since I have an internet plan, not a mobile plan. Yet for some reason there is a mobile data perk available in the rewards section of my account.
Instead of letting it sit there and expire, I thought I would gift it to someone. It seems that is not possible.

You can apply thoses perk only for you in your Fizz internet plan (their lifetime is for 2 years after you've received them).
You can't give them.
To use it,:
Connect you online into your fizz annount,
Click on : Overview
Go down the page and Click: Details of Perks
You are supposed to see 1 or 2 slots.
Apply thoses perks you have in.
And after your choice, click on : Save.
This change will be effective at the beginning of your next billing cycle.13 -
Yes you need a mobile AND a data plan14
-
Yes otherwise, you can create N fake account and donate the perks
I know you are a internet customer, but this is the rule12 -
Anyway I don't think it's a waste since you don't need it.
It's probably a marketing strategy, so that you have right in front of your eyes what you could have by joining Fizz telephone and maybe one day you will be tempted to change haha.16 -

I believe so too12

Yes you need a mobile plan to be able to gift data. Furthermore, your mobile plan must include data in it (so only upgrades or perks do not count).10
-
Yes, not only do you need to be a Fizz mobile member, but you need be subscribed to a data plan in order to gift data.10

It may seems weird but I guess it's just logical.
They should've made up different algorithms, but anyhow.11 -
Some say gifting requires having a mobile plan WITH a data plan, and others say a data plan is not necessary. Which is it?9

Maybe you should chat with them if answers are 50-50.10

I asked chat support and they did not know the answer. They opened a ticket to have a technician reply. I requested that they also post the answer to this community hub question.
To be clear, this is about a perk not an upgrade. It looks like this on the account dashboard:
Gifting is an option:
Selecting Gift shows this message:

sorry You can’t give away mobile perks if you don’t have a mobile plan6

It seems that you do, you might be solely on the Internet Plan and not the Mobile Plan (which is, from what I've gotten, the only place you can gift data)6
-
You need a fizz mobile plan in order to gift perks. You don't need a data plan in order to gift the perk though. A data plan is needed to gift your own monthly data.
I think this is to prevent people from signing up for fake fizz accounts and gifting perks to themselves.6 -
Hc0468, you have raised a good question.
You have only an internet plan and no use for the mobile data perk.
You would like to know if it can be gifted. When you contacted Fizz, it appears that they are not sure whether you should be able to gift it or not.
The debate argument can go either way:
- You're already customer, but you have no use for the data perk. So why not let you gift it to someone who can use it?
- You're already an internet customer. Fizz may want to encourage you to sign-up for a mobile plan too. This data perk can be an added incentive to do so.
Fizz will let us know the answer soon enough.

@Thanh Without an answer available yet, I'd rather keep it open. Please stop spamming every open question.
Update: Fizz responded by email saying that the mobile data perks cannot be gifted from an account without a mobile plan. They did not clarify if the gifter's mobile plan must include data.4 -
Yes indeed5
