How can I change the IP of my modem?
Thanks

This depend fron the DHCP server and the lease time
Try to turn off the modem for 20 minutes
We do not know the DHCP configuration therefore you can find only doing observations9 -
so the only way to do it is turn off the modem?7

IP addresses are automatically assigned
You can try rebooting
However IP addresses do not change frequently on Cable
More often than not you still have the same IP after rebooting if its still available
They only change frequently on DSL10 -
So I have to reboot it until I get a different IP? I will try and let you know if thats works6

Its not something that can be forced from the users end
It might change but it might not
You could always ask fizz to flush your DHCP lease
By flushing your mac address from the APR server
This might do the trick if they are willing to do it9 -
You can reboot your modem, and maybe you will be assigned another IP address, but there is no guarantee for that.7

As Mike suggested, you have to turn off your modem and wait.
Otherwise if you simply reboot, you'll likely get the same IP address.7 -
Hi roberto !
The lease of an IP address from Videotron is dynamic
( like DHCP it is associated with a MAC address )
so a little trick, change or clone a MAC address and the WAN IP ( from Videotron ) will most certainly change.
Just rebooting the CODA won't do it , there is no chance the IP address will obtain a new lease to a new MAC address in less than 48 hours nowadays!
!!!! !!!!!!! caution you will lose all settings and will need original WIFI password of your CODA!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE do this only if you are familiar with setting up a router.
So the probable only way to do it ,
- first do a hardware reset of the CODA ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWQxZCjGJVI
- set it in bridge mode ( Modem only ) ,
- connect the CODA to a PC.
See if that works. IMO it is way too much troubles but if the IP address is compromised you should contact Fizz and they will have to escalate this to Videotron's support and that will take a while !
Good luck !

If you find the way to change the modem MAC address DO NOT DO IT!.
I am pretty sure that the MAC address is used for the authentication.

Yes the MAC address comes from the APR servers and is used to authenticate ( connect the hardware with the profile of account )
But before the days of the routers built in modems, by doing a hardware reset of the MODEM and plug an ethernet port to a new MAC Address you would obtain a new MAC address from the POOL of IPs from the APR servers !
So there is a chance this trick might still work if the CODA is in MODEM only ( Bridge mode )!
but yeah do it at your own risk !

Roberto,
I dont think so.5 -
Why do you need to change it ? There are programs yo remain unknown such as NordVPN.7
-
Reboot your modem......6

Answers above are correct. The ip is assigned dynamically with DHCP and rebooting isn't enough to get a new ip address since if the lease time has not yet expired. If you really just need a new public IP address, get yourself a VPN. There are a few inexpensive ones like NordVPN and PIA.8

I know this isnt exactly answering you question.
However, I suggest you looking for VPN apps online that could help you change the IP adress of your devices .6 -
Roberto
As you can not change dynamically assigned IP address from internet provider as you wish, Videotron can change the DHCP from their end, ISPs use your modem's mac address for authentication with their server.
If you don't want your Fizz IP address to appear you can use a VPN service, then you're anonymous.3 -
If you have a router sitting around, put the modem in bridge mode and connect your router to it. You'll get a new IP right away. Then if you want another one, use the "Clone MAC Address" option in your router.

Are you sure there isn't another solution?3

I am an older person so I don't even know what you are talking about but this means the level of competency of this community is pretty high. Glad to see that !4
