CODA-Bufferbloat Where is the new bug-fixed firmware for the cable modem?
There is a bug in the modem firmware. 2.0.10.43b8 means beta, not tested enough.
The modem will fail to stay stable under medium-heavy load. Half the connections will close and be dropped.
The ping goes past 220ns often, and half of the packets are lost during transfer.
So I'm asking where is the bug fix? People say the firmware 2.0.10.41 was working fine by the way. But 10.43b8 means beta, and bugs, and customers who complain, and modem sent back to fizz office for a non-needed replacement.

I am on Fizz internet for a couple of days and my internet was more stable with Videotron 15mbs then with 60mbs. I never had times when a page would not load before with much lower speed. I am thinking to switch back to Videotron.10

If your modem is not functioning well as it should, you can restart it.
Once the new firmware is available, the update will be done automatically at the next reboot.
Unfortunately we cannot restore back to a previous version of the firmware.
In my case, 2.0.10.43b8 has been pretty stable. Guess I have been lucky.

I am not sure if it is the modem or the network because the speed is not stable from day 1. Some time i get 60, some times 2.5mbs for downloads and the upload jumps around during the test. With Videotron both speeds always stable.10

When you run a speedtest, make sure to take into account any other users online or apps that are running . Ideally you should be the only one using the internet.
If the speedtest yields low results, restart the modem and then retry the speedtest.

Before fizz i didn't even needed to run the speed test because everything was smooth even with the 15mbs. Now I have 60bms but sometimes it won't even open a page in a reasonable amount of time.10

In the building I leave the network is owned by videotron. I wouldn't be surprised if they are making the issues on purpose. Before taking a plan with videotron I was with CIK which I had even worse slowdowns then with Fizz. I hoped that Fizz being a sister company, everything will be fine with the speed but apparently not...10

I assume you're having the speed issue with your wifi.

If you want, you can put the Fizz modem in bridge mode and use your own router.

I have the issue not just with the wifi but the internet in general because my TV is connected with the cable and when I have a slowdown of speed, my IPTV app says that my internet speed is too slow...then after a minute the speed goes back up...so as I said...the speed is not reliable and reiterate that with 15mbs I didn't have such problems...10

If problem is not resolved, you should contact Fizz support. You possibly have an issue with your cable line or the Fizz modem needs to be replaced.

Andrei This is what i'm talking about: Because of a bug, the modem overuses its ressources (cpu) then can't listen to tcp connection requests, causing connection drop or ping timeout, a lot... or in better case, a lag of 250ms-500ms instead of a lag of 9ms. To fix this problem without changing the firmware, I had to disable every function of the modem and replace those with a wifi router plugged in bridge mode into the modem.8
