How many square footage is the modem good for in terms of providing adequate wifi? I live in a small apartment so I assume the modem should be good enough.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 sq depending of walls, electric installation, etc. I'll say approximately a normal bungalow.

If you live in a small appartment you should be fine. 2,4 Ghz covers more distance, and 5 Ghz offers a better signal but with concrete it's not as good.

In my case I have close to 1900 sq ft and I have no problems with coverage. If you have a 2 level house the modem would be best placed on the top floor. If not, try placing it as high as possible away from concrete walls and electrical appliances such as a microwave.
