Modem/Router many problems?
Ok, this is quite ridiculous,
There is so many problem with those modem router, it's not even possible
I have a setup not that complicated, many device, 3 computer, 2 nas, 3 google home device... Everything was working fine with a 50$ Microtik router... but, with that fizz router... it look like impossible to find a workaround working for all
First, Windows remote desktop don't work, can ping the computer, access shared folder, but, no communication is possible using Windows remote desktop. fine... decided to try to setup it as gateway and use my microtik router. no chance, since my microtik router don't want to detect ip address on the fizz router!!! Since that router did work on others setup, I blame the fizz router...
So, never mind, find chrome google desktop and tried it, work fine, so ok.
All things seem to work fine now, BUT, a brand new google nest hub that just can't connect to the wifi, google home mini and google home work fine, connected, chrome cast, firestick, everything, but, nest hub won't do it
IDK who's those guy working on that firmware... but... well, quite desapointed,
I know FIZZ is not support and quite cheap, but equipment and tools provided should at least be working fine!

Did you try to put the router in bridge and use your microtik as router?
This is the reason why I did not pass to fizz internet I want to use my modem and router.8 -
Keep the setup simple and the modem/router is flawless for us is in a 1800sqf house with 3 devices connected at all times8

You have to retry the Fizz modem in bridge mode and make it work with your router.
Hard reset the Fizz modem. Follow these instructions to enable bridge mode and disable modem wifi
https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-can-i-use-my-own-wi-fi-router-fizz
Connect your router to the Fizz modem and restart both devices.10 -
Aside from the initial setup where it wouldn’t recognize the password given by Fizz, my modem/router units been working fine. My Remote desktop works well. But I’m still keeping my old router as a backup for now in case issues come up. I do find there’s a real lack of documentation for this Hitron modem.
I’d say if you’re still having issues after trying multiple avenues, try to contact Fizz and see if you can get a replacement unit.

I have many smarthome devices and other smart devices in my home. The key is to use your own router and setup your fizz modem/router in bridge mode, deactivating their buggy default wifi.6
