I can't share my phone's data to another device. Anyone has this problem?

When I was using my other provider before Fizz, I was able to share my data to my girlfriend's phone. Now with Fizz, I can't. The other device always write that the DNS is incorrect. I have reseted my wifi settings to start over everything. It does the same thing even if I share via Bluetooth. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem and how can I change the situation? I know how sharing works and how to configure it so I don't understand. Thank you.

Do you mean that tethering isn't working? If so, make sure you configure the correct APN settings on your phone before you turn on tethering: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-are-fizz-network-settings-apn22

I am able to share my data, or set up a hotspot on my iphone. What phone are you using? Did you set up the APN correctly?23

I checked again. All of this is configured and tethering is not working. I am able to connect another device succesfully to the AP but it's not working. The phone is a Moto Z Play and trying to connect an iPhone with the sharing to test it.20

I've had problems setting the APN manually on an Android device. It works better for me to go to manage plan, advanced parameters and send myself the Fizz network parameters. Fizz sends you a text message and you click on the link to set up your APN.22

I just did this. I will wait for the text messages and try configuring again.21

I must say that I had big problems to be able to use Fizz at first. My phone is an old demo from a shop and Rogers was not able to unlock it. I needed to create a service call directly at Motorola and they finally were able to unlock it. I lost 3 weeks of a month because of this and I never recieved the fist messages or had to enter a PIN number somewhere.21

Definitely tethering problem, need to change your apn settings.20

But my APN settings are exactly like the tutorial says.19

See my joined screenshots.17

Not sure about this carrier but
Tethering is supposed to have a slightly different setting compares to regular ones. I dont think fizz has any.
But i recall seeing different apn settings in another carrier.18 -
Just for curiosity, I also tried using my iPhone as a personal hotspot today just to test and it worked just fine. It might be a configuration issue.17

But saying that yours works or that's a tethering problem won't help me resolve this. I will contact Fizz support directly because I really need this when it was working with another provider.16
-
Francois, did you ever receive the text from Fizz to update the network parameters?16
-
No, I asked for the config files about 10 times and verified if my text number was okay in my settings from my account. The files never came.13

Strange. Are you able to receive other sms messages? You said you were going to try it in an iphone. Did you get a chance to do that?13
-
Yes I recieve other text messages. Sometimes pictures don't pass in but it was whn the network was down.
When I talked about an iPhone, it was for trying the tethered wifi sharing. The iPhone is locked to Rogers and I can't unlock it because it's a device that belongs to my job.13 -
My iPhone can't accept Fizz sim card. It's not unlocked and belongs to my job. I was talking about trying the data sharing test. And yes, I recieve other's SMS, I just tested with my coworker.13

I am still unable to share my hotspot and all Fizz is asking me to do is check my APN settings. I need it to work.7

I also have this problem. I do not receive any texts when I ask for the settings to be resent. I manually configured the APN as per their tutorial but no dice for data sharing.... I attached my APN settings. Any ideas?1

Yes, I finally found the answer of this problem in another poste somewhere on the dark side of the Internet with the help of a friend.
Change the APN type to this and it will work.
APN Type: default,dun3 -
Ça marche. Merci! Thanks!1

Tant mieux, j'avais oublié l'existence de mon post depuis. Nice!1

Merci Francois B, j'ai le meme telephone Moto G6 play dont j'avais essayé (il y a deux mois) de faire la connection avec ma tablette. Je pensais me desabonner...

I have also faced problem in sharing Fizz data through android hotspot for my laptop with Windows 10. I have figured out that Windows firewall is blocking it. If I disable Windows firewall in my laptop, I could browse internet by sharing the Fizz data. Anyone know, how to solve this data sharing with Windows firewall enabled?1

I found that there was issue with DNS Config, I have changed it to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 from automatic retirevel in IP4 internet configuration, then internet started to work on my laptop with Fizz data hotspot.1
