@Emre, if you have activated a new number with Fizz, it could be a normal behaviour. Getting you phone number listed on the ANTI-SPAM list might help.

I haven't been receiving any spam. And I ported my phone number over from Koodo. But I will keep an eye out for it if it does show up.19

What makes you think it would have been Fizz that sold you out. You're their customer now so it wouldn't be prudent for them to do anything to annoy you like that (especially with all the other sources of annoyance they definitely are responsible for). Rogers, on the other hand, has no reason not to sell you up the river now that you have left them. I'd believe it more for Bell than Rogers, but I know a lot of people have had questionable experiences with Rogers too so you never know. Regardless, I got a new number with Fizz and haven't been receiving any more spam texts than the one or so per month that I have always gotten.20

It's more likely than Fizz just doesn't have a spam filter in place (yet), whereas your previous carrier did. You probably always got the same amount of spam, but most didn't make it to you.18

@René D. The messages are not orientating from Fizz but from various numbers.
Here are a few examples of what I have been receiving.
Example #1: Order canceled: Buy 7 SHOP.TO @ 162.22 Limit GTD
Example #2: Hey PayPal here! Your mobile number has been selected to win 50£ Click Here to claim [Link Censored]*
Example #3:AEROPLAN Moments Worth Millions ends soon! Last chance to win 1 million miles. Share your memorable photos or videos [Link Censored]*

@Jonathan C. I don't know if it Fizz is responsible for this all I know is that this started happening after I switched to them. You bring up a valid point about it possibly being Rogers giving out my number, however, considering the amount of bugs Fizz has I think it would be just as likely that Fizz is somehow leaking client data.17

Just block them and report the #s. I ported my number and have not received any spam (and barely any wanted texts either, hint hint).16

I got a few number with area code 226 and one with 470 after I switched as well, but not any more after I put these number in black list. So I guess my number was just lucky to be randomly choosed.8

just switch to Fizz a week ago and so far no SPAM text and NO CONNECTION last Friday!! ;P13

I don't think Fizz is intentionally selling numbers or customer data... all it takes from the spammer is a way to send SMS. Spammer does not care if the number is in service, so spammer can just run through all possible numbers. (E.g., I get CRA and Chinese Embassy fraud calls at my work number and I am 100% certain that my company won't sell our numbers to these guys)
So I suspect Fizz just does not have a good filter built up yet like Alexandre B. said.8 -
i have got ZERO spam texts since switching to Fizz. I do get texts from my friends, though.8

I got a few phishing ones. Not many by any means. About as much as my work cell on Rogers network.4

If you’re on iOS or Android, try using Truecaller (search it up in your respective app store to download it). Truecaller will help you identify spammers and block them.2
