Text Spam Since Switching to Fizz?

Count yourself lucky... others are not getting SMS at all and you get plenty :-)

@Emre, if you have activated a new number with Fizz, it could be a normal behaviour. Getting you phone number listed on the ANTI-SPAM list might help.

What makes you think it would have been Fizz that sold you out. You're their customer now so it wouldn't be prudent for them to do anything to annoy you like that (especially with all the other sources of annoyance they definitely are responsible for). Rogers, on the other hand, has no reason not to sell you up the river now that you have left them. I'd believe it more for Bell than Rogers, but I know a lot of people have had questionable experiences with Rogers too so you never know. Regardless, I got a new number with Fizz and haven't been receiving any more spam texts than the one or so per month that I have always gotten.

It's more likely than Fizz just doesn't have a spam filter in place (yet), whereas your previous carrier did. You probably always got the same amount of spam, but most didn't make it to you.

I got a few number with area code 226 and one with 470 after I switched as well, but not any more after I put these number in black list. So I guess my number was just lucky to be randomly choosed.

I don't think Fizz is intentionally selling numbers or customer data... all it takes from the spammer is a way to send SMS. Spammer does not care if the number is in service, so spammer can just run through all possible numbers. (E.g., I get CRA and Chinese Embassy fraud calls at my work number and I am 100% certain that my company won't sell our numbers to these guys)
So I suspect Fizz just does not have a good filter built up yet like Alexandre B. said.

Not seeing any spam here so far after 2 weeks of service.
