When should I apply for the new plan?

I current contract ends in December. What is the best time for me to apply for the new Fizz plan?

I wouldn’t risk leaving it for the very last minute. Maybe one week before the end of the discounted period (Dec 19th I believe)12

The earlier the better, but I understand that you do not want to pay for 2 plans at the same time. I would recommend a week but I would not cut it closer than 5 days before the 19th.
Edit: what you could do however is order your sim card today and then wait until the last minute to port your number over. It would elimate a lot of the delivery issues that could go wrong.12 -
I think you just need to activate the line before the 19th. Order the SIM card quickly so you can take the plan before the 19th, to mitigate delivery issues. Also, if you current contract ends in December, you will only have 1/24th of the total contract penalty (for just 1 month). I don't know how much you paid per month at your older company, but you will most likely get the money back in just 1 month with the savings on Fizz

If you want to keep your old number, make sure you have enough time to port it over before you lose it.11

December 19th is when the introductory pricing supposedly ends. They might extend it like they did with the beta-pricing. I would definitely read some of the issues people are having before signing up. Just so you enter with a proper idea of what you are getting. There are texting issues and the customer service is tough to get.10

After the second network outage in two weeks, I would say the best time to activate a Fizz plan is sometime in 2020 or whenever they get their act together.5
