Hi, I ran out of data today. I wanted to buy more but the network would not let me access any website.
When I went to https://fizz.ca, I got a Chrome error "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". On other sites I see "Something is wrong with your plan".
How can I buy more data, while on Fizz network?

Does that link work at all for you? Also, try in a different browser than you've been using.
You may need to use wifi if you're already out of data.12 -
Allison: thanks for the reply. To clarify, I need to buy more data *while on Fizz network*. I was away from my home with no access to wifi. The link you posted gives "This site can't be reached" on both Chrome and Safari on Fizz network.14

I don't think there's any way to buy more data unless you have data left or at least some money in your wallet. Going to the fizz website takes data after all. Fizz doesn't have a phone number to reach to add things to your account. I use my cell phone settings to warn me when I'm close to running out.
Although some providers send an email with an offer to buy more data when you run out, and it would be nice if Fizz added this option too.12 -
Thanks for your reply Allison. Even though websites take data, network operators have the capability to allow access to a limited set of sites (for example the fizz My account site). Other operators do this (eg. T-Mobile in the US). Even Fizz itself captures any http (unsecured) websites and sends users to the "Something is wrong with your plan" page.
Given that in that situation users would spend more money on their account, I guess this would be in Fizz's interest.
I would appreciate a reply from Fizz staff on this.16 -
The CRTC decision on net neutrality (Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2017-104 (136)) does allow for zero-rating account management data, so there's no reason Fizz couldn't implement this.14
