Adding @Whizz
-
I dont want a phone that changes the plan price. It still tries to change my $25 plan to $26.60
-
Yeah I did. The price of my plan goes up if I buy a phone. What kind of customer service is that?
-
Sorry but Whizz confirmed earlier today that this phone is NOT VoLTE certified.
-
Down for me too :(
-
Thanks everyone I will shop for a phone this weekend!
-
Yes, I am working on this! How important is buying a phone on the Fizz volte whitelist?
-
Thanks again wenhan thats exactly what I'll do. I'll just let my phone pick the network on its own (EXT 99% of the time) and not worry about it
-
Ok, but they should be able to tell me before then if I'm 50% on EXT or not no? I'd rather switch providers now than have to panic shop if/when they send me a warning email. Support is giving me contraditory messages about EXT and whether or not I'm roaming so I have no idea what is going on (and niether do they?)
-
This is getting absurd. Fizz support tells me I will be kicked off the network if my usage is more than 50% on the EXT network for 3 months. But, they refuse to tell me if my current usage is 50% on the Fizz network or not. My phone, which is whitelisted by Fizz, will never connect to the Fizz network automatically at home…
-
Thanks wenhan I learned some new things today, now I need to resist the urge to check my dBm score everywhere I go!
-
I think this is correct, sadly. The funny thing is my phone usually shows 4/5 bars of signal. There are many complaints online about the modems in these Samsung A series phones. My signal was awful with my old provider too. Time to shop for a phone I guess!
-
-106dBm, 34asu on Fizz -110dBm, 30asu on EXT Im not sure what these numbers mean but I'm kinda having fun learning about this stuff!
-
It is a Samsung A54
-
Ohh good question! It is 4/5 right now but my phone has switched back to EXT automatically. I will make a note of the signal bars when it switches to Fizz again!
-
I am waiting for chat to get back to me. I need the service to work at home, I am clearly within the coverage boundary but the service is unusable here :(
-
Rebooting does nothing, and I don't want to buy a new phone this phone is on the approved Fizz list :(
-
Data coming your way!

-
> @BeakBird said: > I think it will be a business decision. So devices with the largest market share will be prioritized. Makes sense. Although the current whitelist has TCL phones on it, and I don't imagine those are super popular, at least compared to all the other phones on the whitelist (Google, Samsung, Apple)
-
Thank you all for your generosity! I think I have enough data now, I will pay it forward as soon as my plan renews!
-
Please double check if your phone is on the volte whitelist before purchasing!
-
> @BeakBird said: > I get the feeling that the whitelist will grow until then. Specially for newer phones. I hope so! I know its unlikely but I hope they also whitelist some more niche devices as well. Like the suspiciously cheap Android phones on Amazon (some are actually decent!)
-
> @BeakBird said: > Maybe that's why the support chat has been so busy. The influx of new members from PM. I wouldn't be suprised! Maybe Fizz was caught off guard by the wave of folks switching over from Public :D

> @BeakBird said: > Yeah. I had problems roaming while in the states. > Then they wouldn't let you change to the newer better deal plans which were for new users only. > They also changed the rewards which turned off a lot of users. My experience exactly! Removing the legacy rewards was the last straw for me, many people…
-
I've been stuck on Fizz EXT for a few weeks now, but Fizz support told me I was not roaming so maybe its just my phone being wierd? My phone is on the volte whitelist if that matters!
-
> @BeakBird said: > Hey, so am I. > Things are much better here. Still can't believe things went south so fast over there, the grass is much greener here I think!
-
> @BeakBird said: > VoLTE is a service that uses various IP protocols... This is very interesting, you seem very knowlegeable on this! My current phone is on the whitelist but the phone I am looking to purchase is not. Do you know, roughly, when 3g will be phased out?
