Everything is up to date, my os is 12.1.2 and the carrier is Fizz 35.0. So it has to be something else.

Make sure that the iPhone users aren't sending you iMessage instead of sms, if so make sure to unregister your number from the apple site

You should be able to port your number out. If the carrier you are going to doesnt recognize Fizz as a carrier having them select Videotron should work afaik

If you have the Canada plan you can use your phone as normal in Kingston. I belive they will cut your data off if you are using most/all of your data outside of the Fizz coverage. Should be the same restrictions of Videotron.
