I think it is because the prices are some kind of incentive to upgrade your plan and pay less for the extra data but monthly instead of just top up data occasionally, it is a common practice as far as I know.

In my experience, it seems that there’s a limit on giving kudos, I don’t know if posting or receiving kudos behave the same way though. Just keep in mind that sometimes there’s a lag period between giving a kudo and actually showing your point gain, this could take minutes.
