i looked at my APN settings, seems old and different than what's in the instructions and portal, (something like media etc.) that may be the reason, but i thought i had updated it multiple times in the past... do we have to update it on a regular basis or every time android upgrades?

i did toggle data roaming many times, it did not make any difference. also reboot many times

thanks for your reply. I don't think changing wireless physical channels (physical layer) has anything to do with dynamic IP (network layer). firmware update is fine, it happens all the time, but not being able to preserving user config is not cool.
