So the issue has been resolved. Fido had already provided the unlock code and I had even double checked it with them, but it wasn't working. It was in contacting Samsung that I got my problem fixed. In less than 10min they gave me the procedure to follow and a different code to enter and the phone unlocked. Hence, for…

I'm not sure about the Global version, but I would be surprised if it is because everything else (data, calls, SMS) has been working fine on the Fizz network so far (~1week). The other users' phone are not the issue and they are also receiving MMS normally from everyone else.
