Try turning off LTE Voice & Data and try 3G setting only. Works in some cases.

With the network problems that are going on right now, I highly doubt such SMS services would work right now. Some people can't even send a simple SMS message to another Fizz customer. It certainly didn't work for me right now. But I will try again when we have full service.

Whether you see Fizz, Fizz EXT, or the actual carrier names on any nearby tower all depend on your Phone type and firmware. Most unlocked phones are capable of seeing all available carriers. @Yun H. I tried it with another phone same thing. It may be the SIM, but I always have LTE when it drops down to 3G, it's on carrier 520, but on LTE in Ottawa it always shows 720 (Rogers). Actually, when I'm on LTE in Ottawa band 4 or 12 the carrier name says Fizz Network, but the number from the cell tower shows it to be #720 which is Rogers, Fizz and Videotron are #520. So this may be the problem they are trying to resolve. Videotron LTE was always 520.

I have been playing with custom ROMs for years now, so debugging network issues isn't much of a challenge, or distraction for me. But, I just hope that when everything starts running smoothly Fizz will be more open than other carriers with carrier settings and allow us to use Volte and Wifi calling without them providing…

I hope all service is restored soon. I have everything working except MMS. According to their last announcement some people still don't have all services yet. We can only wait now.

Six hours no service because of Network Congestion? There's nobody on the network lol. Are we getting bumped off because Videotron and Rogers have congestion?

Going to FAQ for network status does not cut it. Network status should be headline banner across network when problems occur!

Try turning off LTE and then send/receive messages on 3G, then you can switch back to LTE. That worked on one of my lines.

I put the Videotron SIM back in the phone and I have full Videotron service again. After two weeks of porting and I still have Videotron service! Whizz, you have my number, please pass this along to your technical team. Maybe they can figure it out.
