  • Fizz is a Videotron flanker brand just like Koodo for Telus or Fido for Rogers. It allows them to offer a cheaper product to price conscious customers without cannibalizing their own customer base. They set it up in a way that caters to younger people. So customer service is online, no voice, and to keep the cost conscious…
  • Why not simply offer the service of emailing the audio file to the address of your choice? It's a no app, no limit, no need to check voicemail solution. It's possible via forwarding to a VoIP number for less than the cost of Fizz Voicemail, but that's a hassle. Fizz could do it easily. Why don't they?
  • Q: Can anyone who is not already a Fizz member see these message boards? Let's test this. Q: Has anyone who is not already a Fizz member seen this? If yes, then here is a friend's referral code who could use the support : 22K5S Nota: It's not my referral code. I'm good.
  • You should be able to gift data between phones if they both have active data plans. Even in the same account. But if you have minimal or episodic data needs, consider turning off data entirely for the least used phone and relying on the 500MB & 250MB Perks available at Level 2 and above. That reduces your cost far more…
  • That's the common assumption, but if most people are like me and don't try to gift the perk until it's about to expire—because I don't need it myself and my friend needed the extra data—then it's too late to do anything about it. And I already have a mobile plan (in a separate account) and when I asked whether I could…
  • Probably, but I'm looking for evidence. Getting more clients is good, but not at the expense of annoying your existing clients.
  • Interesting. One friend with an Internet plan did not receive the perk, but all others did (and only them). I wonder if anyone with an Internet and Mobile Plan actually received the perk. Compared to offering $25 for a new client, 2GB of data is cheap. But there is little value in dangling a carrot that you can't even eat.
  • Hang on to that $19 plan. Accrochez-vous à ce plan de 19 $.
  • I look at your add-on prices and wonder what I'd have to do to get them myself. :(
  • Only look at the total price of the package that gives you the upload speed you want. I know Bell clients who are getting a symmetrical 1Gbps fibre connection (940Mbps) for $80/month. Would I complain that I don't need 940Mbps download but just the upload. Hell no. Take the cheapest package that meets or exceeds your…
  • Will confirm this information with Bixi if able, but it appears that once you start the process with the Fizz/Bixi perk you must rent a Bixi or lose the perk. Also, it's *up to* $5 as no mechanism exists to carry over any remaining balance. Regardless of whether you retrieve a Bixi, or even choose a station, the clock runs…
  • @Whizz, this sent me in the right direction, and I was able to enter the code, and created a Bixi account, but when I stopped the process at the point where it required me to choose a Bixi (because I wanted it set it up first, and use it later, and I was nowhere near a Bixi station) there was no recorded balance, and…
  • I assume that you already have signed up and booked an appointment? If not, there is a $75 referral bonus available, and 120/20 is also available at a discounted rate.
  • Fizz is a Videotron flanker brand. Technologically, it's identical to Videotron expect for the customer service UX. Virgin fills the same role for Bell, and Koodo for Telus. The goal is to keep you from going to actual independents, like Teksavvy. Flanker brands can offer cheaper services while keeping their regular…
  • It sounds like you are switching your Internet from a DSL (phone) connection. The Fizz modem uses an RG-62 cable connection, like a Cable TV. You will need to have that installed by the Fizz installer when they bring the modem. Then your computer cabling (RJ-45) is connected to the Fizz modem/router (or you use Wi-Fi).…
  • If Speedtest is showing 120/10, then you've got a technical problem. Typically Videotron Speedtest will show ~10% over, give or take. Start by restarting your router and retesting with the client directly attached to the modem. And try with dslreports speedtest. You should see higher numbers than the link below, but worse…
  • I prefer CIRA to Google simply because it's private. CIRA offers three levels of DNS: Private, Protected, and Family. You might consider Private as an alternative to Google. Note that I've never had a DNS search fail. You'd really need to be visiting hijacked sites intentionally to notice a difference.
  • You can only give data from your current month's plan. Rollovers cannot be gifted. So if your usage looks something like this, even with almost 2GB of data, none can be gifted.
  • @Whizz , thank you but the link applies to a different promotion. The one I am discussing is for $5 free riding time. (Image attached) The question is how to activate the account in advance of use, and without a subscription. I don't want to be fiddling with this in front of the BIXI stand when I'm on a tight schedule. If…
  • Since Fizz is a Videotron flanker brand, roaming behaviour may be similar. When in Ontario with Videotron, I've had to power cycle the phone to get data. Even though I can still text and call, occasionally data would disappear. Turning Airplane mode on and off may also work. This assumed that you have enough data and that…
  • Everything you say is true, but assuming you want a workaround rather than simply to be right, a client offers one solution. And once set, the IP does not change unless the MAC address of the router changes (or the router is powered off for 24-48 hours). So you could even set it manually in a pinch. I wish the Fizz router…

  • Consider running a client on your computer. I've avoided these features on the modem because of this type of issue. I currently use dyndns.org and no-ip.org without issue. Since you'll need the computer on in order to make much use of DDNS, this should work fine. Even if you do not sign-on often, the IP address remains…
  • Vous pouvez changer à tout moment. Vérifiez périodiquement que les prix changent sans préavis. N'oubliez pas d'utiliser vos avantages (My Upgrades / Perks). Vous avez probablement 500 Mo supplémentaires par mois (My Upgrades) et 6 Go de cadeaux (Perks).
  • I've had problems a couple of times (loss of connectivity upstream for a few minutes at a time). If I check Fizz network status via another route, it always says that everything is just fine. It would be nice if the network status message was a little more accurate. In the past, when Videotron DNS services went offline and…
  • With a $50 referral (each!) it's hard to argue. It often makes sense to keep phones and Internet separate. Internet is associated to a place. Mobile phones to a person. When people move, the Internet is disrupted while the phone is not. Separating them allows you to pass on the Internet to new tenants while keeping the…
  • Most individuals could survive with 15/10 though gamers might find it slow for large downloads. A family works with 30/10. I know one that did. My preference would be for higher upload speeds (more symmetrical speeds) as this would give more headroom for Zooms. 4 people on zoom with 10Mbps upload is workable, but does not…
  • With upgrades of 500 and 250 (and now 5x1GB perks) even a 1GB data plan should still allow you to use 2GB a month.
  • Cancelled Teksavvy the day that Fizz was working. Fizz has great pricing, but it's because it's effectively cross subsidized by Videotron. Feel sorry for the little guys since when they are gone you can bet the prices will go up again. Hopefully, the CRTC will require access to the wholesale networks at saner pricing. And…
  • The referral code is added in the last page that shows all billing details, just before you agree to everything.
